Artificial Intelligence and Technology

Using Modern Technology Responsibly

C.A. Smith Law utilizes modern technology to improve efficiency, responsiveness, and client service. This includes secure cloud-based systems, electronic communications, videoconferencing platforms, legal research tools, document management software, and, where appropriate, artificial intelligence (“AI”)-assisted technologies.

Technology can help streamline administrative tasks, organize information, assist with legal research, and improve the efficiency of document review and drafting. The responsible use of these tools may reduce costs, improve responsiveness, and allow the firm to devote more time to substantive legal analysis and client advocacy.

Attorney Oversight

Artificial intelligence does not replace attorney judgment.

Any work product generated with the assistance of AI tools is reviewed, evaluated, and approved by a licensed attorney before being relied upon, provided to a client, or submitted to a court, agency, or third party.

The firm remains responsible for all legal work performed on behalf of its clients and exercises independent professional judgment at all times.

Confidentiality & Security

C.A. Smith Law takes reasonable measures to protect confidential information and to utilize technology providers that maintain appropriate security and privacy standards.

The firm endeavors to use technology in a manner consistent with applicable law, the Washington Rules of Professional Conduct, and evolving ethical guidance regarding attorney competence, confidentiality, supervision, and client communication.

Questions

Clients with questions regarding the firm’s use of technology or artificial intelligence are encouraged to discuss those questions during their consultation or at any time during the representation.
